Atipamezole hydrochloride

Atamezole hydrochloride is an effective adrenergic receptor blocker that selectively and competitively inhibits adrenergic receptors. As a veterinary drug, atamezole hydrochloride is primarily used in livestock, such as dogs, after surgery to quickly recover from the sedative effects and other actions of the adrenergic receptor agonist medetomidine. After intramuscular injection in dogs, it takes effect within minutes, reaches its blood concentration in about 10 minutes, and has a half-life of less than one hour in the bloodstream. It is then biotransformed in the liver and excreted through urine. This demonstrates that atamezole hydrochloride is an effective, fast-acting, and safe medication.
